Sharmon Davidson
Biography

Sharmon Davidson* began her artistic career as a graphic designer, and then chose to put her career on hold, devoting several years to raising her children. During this time, she earned two bachelor’s degrees, did various types of volunteer work, and performed in a professional Middle Eastern dance troupe. Davidson has exhibited her work professionally since 1994, when she graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a BFA in Drawing and a BA in Art Education. In addition, she has taught in the Kentucky public schools, furthered her education at the prestigious Art Academy of Cincinnati, and earned a Master's degree in education. Other interests include gardening, photography, hiking, and building/ restoring old log houses.
Davidson’s work has been shown primarily in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Louisiana, winning awards in both regional and national juried exhibitions. Solo show venues include the Hypotenuse Gallery at Sinclair College as well as the Miami Valley Cooperative Gallery’s space at the Dayton Convention Center. Several pieces of her art toured the country for two years in a national traveling group exhibit called A Patchwork of Women’s Art, and has been published on both magazine covers and greeting cards. Most recently, her work appeared in the March 2008 issue of Art Calendar magazine. Davidson has been represented by the Carol Robinson Gallery in New Orleans, the Drake Gallery in Berea, Kentucky, and is currently represented by the Promenade Gallery in Berea, Kentucky.
